And book rapt, surely? Are those your actual shelves? You've got me beat by a mile!

Yup, those are my shelves. I've been trying to cut back, but can't seem to stop buying more!

MAN are you organized, too. I see those labels. I thought I was organized when I separated fiction from nonfiction!

Lol, over the years things just got out of hand. Some of the books I've had since I was a girl. It was getting hard to find a certain book, especially if it was a subject that I didn't have a lot of. So subject, author, print date.

I can see where that's needed at a certain point. I've been paring down my book collection over the last 20 years so I'd say it's close to half the size it used to be. But I know by memory where most of my books are. Other than fiction/nonfiction, I do put same author or same subject books together (I have a shelf of autobiographies, a shelf for Bill Bryson, one for Dave Barry, two for Tolkien and Sherlock Holmes, that kind of thing).

Believe it or not, so have I. It's about 2/3 the size it used to be.

I don't have shelves for specific authors; they all just fold into whatever the subject is, like King in horror. But there's still enough books that the labels still come in handy. I suppose at some point I won't need them anymore, but I think that's a ways off. 🤔

Books are the best way to decorate a room! And Happy belated birthday!

Yes, I agree. Books just add so much to a room.

And thanks for the belated birthday wishes!

Are that your private shelves and your own books? And so well organized too. :-o

And I thought I have a lot of books, but I'm a beggar compared to you then.

Yes, it's my library. And I'm pretty anal when it comes to organizing, so of course my books all have to be in order. 😉

I'm doing Monthly Motif too! As well as a couple others. A Marvelous Light was my Monthly Motif book for January. (I had already checked it out before I realized I could use it.)

I went with a new author. I already had the book, so that worked out well, too. Haven't finished yet, though.

It's the result of decades of work. *g*

Thanks, it is fun, though sometimes difficult.

Yes, I do. But since I can use the same book in several different challenges, it's doable. 🙂

I believe you! :-) There comes a point, unless you're rich or have a huge home, that you have to. You run out of space for new books. There were some I'd read and not liked that much, some I knew I'd never read again, some I reread recently and went "Nope," and some I had to admit I was never going to read (those are the hardest to give up, but sometimes you start a book and you just can't keep going. If that happens to me twice, the book goes).

That sounds pretty much of what I went through. Space, some that you know you're never going to reread. Or you reread it and realize that maybe it wasn't as good as you remember. There's even been a couple of times that I read a book by an author that's so not good that I get rid of all the books by that author. This clearing out is a slow process, but I'm getting there. Of course it doesn't help that I just bought seven book with the Amazon gift certificate that my stepson gave me for Christmas. 😛
