I’m not usually one for mysteries, but Adams makes it more than palatable by mixing it with archaeology, history, and myth. The Trojan War, and especially the fate of Aeneas, is especially interesting, so this story, relying on the mystery of Dido’s palace, is doubly so.

As usual with Adams’ books, it helps to be familiar with the history or myth on which a particular book is based, but it’s not a must. The author does a good job of bringing the reader up to speed. It transitions smoothly into the second plot line regarding the dividing of Cyrus between Greece and Turkey.

The book made an impression, and I may pick up his other stand-alone novel.
