I just rewatched this. It's just so sad. And his girlfriend really pissed me off, the way she kept teasing him and then going home to hubby.
I remember how struck I was with the special effects at the time - especially the scene with the kid in the bedroom when the house was on fire. First Johnnie's in the hospital - wham - then he's in the room. I remember how startling and chilling that scene was. Really effective.
I thought it did an excellent job of bringing the book to screen. The special effects were really good for its time and I think have held up well. Walken was excellent. An all-around great film, and at the top of my list for King adaptions.
