Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] byslantedlight because it has some unique and interesting questions.

1. How many jobs have you had, and which was your favorite?

It depends on what you mean by job. I only with one company all my working life, but I worked in several different departments. I suppose my favorite would have to be when I worked in construction, setting up the trench inspections for large developments and ordering any cable and supplies needed that weren't kept on hand. I liked talking to all the different developers, barricade companies, the construction foremen, and the joint trench inspector—who I ended up marrying. *g*

2. When did you first connect to other people via computers?

1999. It's when we bought our first computer. I knew about fan fiction, so one of the first things I searched for was "Star Trek fanfiction." That led me to the old listserv and ASCEM, a Star Trek slash group.

3. Were/are you on AOL? Compuserve? LJ? Dreamwidth? A Listserv? Other?

We were on AOL only long enough to set up service through our ISP. Obviously, I'm on LJ. I have a Dreamwidth account, but I rarely go there.

4. If you went to college, does your major match your career/current job?

Not hardly. My major was Astronomy, but I quickly found out that being an astronomer wasn't what I thought it was. Turns out, I wanted to be an amateur astronomer.

5. Have you had a mammogram? Colonoscopy?

Several of both. A mammogram every year after age forty, a colonoscopy every five from age fifty. The latter only because all my siblings have certain medical issues in that regard.

6. When did you get your first cell phone? What was it like? Did it have a screen?

I don't remember the year. I do remember that it was huge, with a hard antenna stuck on top. It didn't have a screen, though.

7. When did your family first acquire a colour TV?

1966. I remember because we were able to watch Star Trek in color.

8. When did your family acquire a second TV?

It was early, probably around 1960-61. My younger brother was already born, but not very old. One of my grandfather's was a tv repairman, so getting tvs was easy.

9. Did you ever own “designer jeans”? No, unless you count Levi's. ;-)

10. Have you ever been to a disco?

Yes. They weren't where I tended to hang out, but I had a couple of friends who liked going to them. Plus, that's where we often ended up when I partied with people from work.

11. How many places (towns, states, countries) have you lived in?

Only two. Phoenix, Arizona and Kentwood, Michigan. Well, maybe three, if you count my time at the U of A in Tucson, Arizona.

12. Have any of your contemporary friends died?

Yes. A young man I'd known since grammar school died when we were twenty-one.

A very close and dear friend died in 1996. She was forty-seven.

13. Are your parents still living?

My mother is. My dad died in 2006.

14. Do you have any gray hairs?

Boy, do I ever. They started coming in when I was fourteen.

15. Did you or your family own a Betamax?

No.

16. How did you spend New Year’s Eve 1999/2000?

I was forty-six and married. How do you think I spent it? ;-)

17. What’s the oldest article of clothing you still wear?

Probably a pair of gray sweatpants that I love. They don't seem to make them the same way anymore.

18. Do you eat your vegetables?

Of course. I've always loved vegetables, maybe because my mom always bought fresh.

19. Are the privileges of adulthood worth the responsibilities?

I'd say so.

20. Do you feel like an adult?

Most of the time.

21. Is youth wasted on the young?

No. A lot of the things I did in my misspent youth I wouldn't even dream of doing now, even if I could. But I had a good time doing them at the time. :-)
