Another short month. maybe I'll do better next month.
MOVIES WATCHED IN FEBRUARY
Feb 9 - Pick Of the Litter (2018)
Pick of the Litter follows a litter of puppies from the moment they're born and begin their quest to become Guide Dogs for the Blind, the ultimate canine career. Cameras follow these pups through a two-year odyssey as they train to become dogs whose ultimate responsibility is to protect their blind partners from harm. Along the way, the dogs meet a community of dedicated individuals who train them to do amazing, life-changing things in the service of their human. The stakes are high and not every dog can make the cut. Only the best of the best. The pick of the litter.
Directors: Don Hardy
Informative, and just too darn cute!
Feb 14 - Harry and Snowman (2015)
The story of immigrant Harry DeLeyer and the plow horse he rescued from slaughter.
Director: Ron Davis
Stars: Harry DeLeyer, Harriet DeLeyer, Andre DeLeyer
Not at all what I expected. It could have been called “Harry,” for the amount of time spent talking about Snowman.
Feb 16 - Tab Hunter: Confidential (2015)
The story of matinee idol Tab Hunter from teenage stable boy to closeted Hollywood star of the 1950s.
Director: Jeffrey Schwarz
Stars: Tab Hunter, Clint Eastwood, Paul Newman, Portia de Rossi, Natalie Wood, James Dean, Debbie Reynolds, Robert Wagner, Anthony Perkins, Lainie Kazan, Connie Stevens, John Waters, George Takei, Earl Holliman, Don Murray, Darryl Hickman, Rex Reed, Rona Barrett
I didn’t know much about Hunter, but this documentary certainly changed that. There really was more to the man than the image he projected on the screen.
Feb 20 - Drone (2017)
Ideologies collide with fatal results when a military drone contractor meets an enigmatic Pakistani businessman.
Director: Jason Bourque
Stars: Sean Bean, Patrick Sabongui, Mary McCormack
Excellent movie, and much more than I expected.
Feb 25 - The Happytime Murders (2018)
When the puppet cast of a '90s children's TV show begin to get murdered one by one, a disgraced LAPD detective-turned-private eye puppet takes on the case.
Director: Brian Henson
Stars: Melissa McCarthy, Elizabeth Banks, Maya Rudolph
Kind of weird, but still entertaining.
