History of Halloween - Halloween History

There seems to be some different understandings on my flist regarding Halloween (especially overseas,) to the point where I wasn't even sure, myself, anymore! *g* So I looked around and found this.

Very interesting. I knew only few things on Halloween, and I'm happy you filled up the gaps of my knowledge. Now Halloween is celebrated everywhere and in some way it overlaps older local tradition (for instance in my town - Middle Italy - in this day we eat special cookies we call 'broad beans of the dead', we make only in this occasion, and I think this tradition is very ancient, perhaps of Pythagorean origin).
Thanks for posting!

You're welcome. :-) There was quite a bit there I didn't know, either. It's amazing how many countries had a tradition surrounding the dead which has now morphed into Halloween.

I knew some of this but not all! Thanks!

Same here! I knew it was a Celtic tradition, but didn't know about all the rest. And you're very welcome. :-)
