Oh, absolutely, the huge amount of insubordination in that episode was unrealistic and ridiculous! I mentioned that only in passing because both your story and the analyses I've read of the episode stressed that aspect of things, so I took that part as given. But most people don't have scientific training, so most people DON'T realize that Spock is also written badly in this episode. I was trying to add to what you'd already illustrated so ably, not supersede it!
KCS is an interesting author because she doesn't write sexual relationships among the characters, but she does write stories where the affection between Kirk and Spock is the most important thing. Her stories feel a lot like Spirk to me, just without kissing. :-)
It's sweet of you to read "Reining in McCoy." You should NOT feel at all obligated to read "Physician, Heal Thyself." I mentioned the stories in case you might enjoy them, but if you'd rather not read them because they aren't Spirk, that's perfectly okay! (I write both Spirk and gen, which seems to annoy everybody. The people who read only gen think it's weird that I sometimes write Spirk, and the people who read only Spirk want to know why I waste my time with gen. Oh, well. Can't please everybody. :-)
