LOL - that brings back memories!

Lol, I enjoyed it so much, I willingly paid for a taxi to get back to the airport when I was leaving.

And it sounds like the kind of trip I could really get into. Lots of places I've been but many I haven't (I fully intend to get to the MoL one day!).

Yeah, there was loads I didn't get to see. MofL was very interesting, and I'd like to go back and see the entire thing next time. But I'm also thinking that next time I may skip London completely and focus in on the North and the Midlands.

Agree with you about Warwick Castle *g*

It was pretty bad. They've taken what could be an interesting and historical rich place and turned it into a theme park. Even the Ricardian connection the castle has wasn't enough.

The second sounds interesting - more please?

It was really aimed at Star Trek fans, comparing the past romantic myths, such as those that have grown up around Alexander and Arthur, with the Star Trek universe and Kirk and Spock specifically. She believes that the two basic tenets of ST, that it showed us a vision of human achievement so ambitious that we can only conceive of the possiblities it suggests, and that at its heart it gave us a compelling personal drama that examined the most important questions of the human life, are what compelled it from story to legend. She also drew parallels between the Alexander Romance and the specific key elements of it that can be found in so many of the ST episodes. Especially with the Alexander Romance, she drew the parallels between the Alexander/Hephaistion legendary friendship/love and the one between Kirk and Spock.

It's hard to relate it adequately, as its going to be an article in a book so it was really quite long. But it was an absolutely absorbing and exciting presentation, especially to a room full of K/Sers. *g*
